For roofers

Roofers: are customers finding you when they ask AI?

Roof work gets searched in the rain, urgently, on a phone. If you are not in the answer you are not in the job.

The questions your customers are asking

“Who fixes roof leaks near me?”

“How much does a roof restoration cost?”

“Who replaces gutters in my area?”

Jobs we write your pages around: roof restoration, leak repairs, gutter replacement, re-roofing, metal roofing and roof inspections.

Examples of what people ask, not results for your business.

Three separate licensed categories, and customers know none of them

NSW treats roof plumbing, roof slating and roof tiling as three distinct categories of residential building work, each needing a contractor licence once the job exceeds $5,000 in labour and materials including GST. Customers do not know this, and it matters to them more than they realise, because the person who can legally replace your metal roof and flashings is not necessarily licensed to re-tile it. Saying which of the three you hold is more informative than any amount of "quality workmanship guaranteed", and it is checkable on the free public register, which is the point.

Check a roofing licence category on the NSW register

We link the issuing body, not a directory, so you can verify this yourself rather than take our word for it. This is general information about licensing as it stood on the checked date, not legal advice, and the issuing body is the authority on your obligations.

Demand arrives with the weather, and so do the door-knockers

Roofing carries the worst reputation problem it did not earn, because storm season reliably brings door-knockers, cash deposits and unlicensed work into the same suburbs as legitimate roofers. Your prospective customer is not only deciding whether to hire you, they are actively trying to work out whether you are a scam. Every ordinary trust signal is worth more here than anywhere else: a licence number, a fixed address, a written quote before payment, a stated position on deposits. An honest roofer who publishes none of those is competing on level terms with someone who should not be working at all.

What AI assistants currently get wrong about roofers

Ask an assistant about a leaking roof and it answers the question rather than naming anyone, because the safe response is to explain temporary measures and advise getting quotes. Being the source of that explanation is how you get named in it. A roofer who documents what to do in the first hour of a leak becomes the citation inside the advice, which beats being one of five names in a list.

What reviews actually measure in this trade

Roofing reviews are unusual because the customer cannot see the work, before or after. They review the process: whether the quote held, whether the mess was cleaned up, whether anyone explained what was found up there. Photographs in your review replies do more here than anywhere else.
